I formed the William M. Sparks Insurance Agency in October 1981. It was started in a room in my home in Sykesville. My wife and I were very much interested in establishing a business which would have the idea of being helpful in the insurance industry. We thought of extending the "Golden Rule" to the business and have our policyholders give us feedback on how we could improve. While some things have changed over the years our agency still tries to improve its position in the business world and also its service to our customers. We want to try to help all who come to our agency with a personal touch and concern. While our agency is not the largest agency in the business we feel that our service is always the best. We provide personalized service, return telephone calls, the same person to talk with and 24 hour claims service via "800" numbers to the companies. We hope to see you come to our agency. Success Stories One story that come to mind is the story when I helped a local church put a roof on their sanctuary for no cost. That may sound impossible, however, I wrote their insurance on their school, sanctuary, and apartment complex and the savings was more than $10,000. We insure a large local heavy equipment sales and service company. They came to my agency because the comptroller had heard of the competitiveness of the Erie Insurance Group. One day they had a loss and the insurance provided them the coverage they needed and they did not have that coverage with their prior insurer. They were simply amazed and could not realize that Erie had been there for them. A local cabinet maker was starting his
business but had been given many insurance quotes which were quite high.
We managed to provide him the coverage to start his business and as he
became more successful we added the additional coverage as he could afford
them.
